A new twist on the “eyebrow tattoo,” Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup used to give fullness to sparse brows. Performed, using a small pen with tiny needles, hair-like strokes are drawn in between already present brow hair for a natural look. The ink used is custom blended for each client; to match his or her natural brow color, and deposited just below the epidermis, rather than into the dermis like a traditional tattoo. This is what allows the ink to fade overtime. The finished result lasts for 1-2 years.
Microblading is a two-part service. On your initial visit you will have a thorough consultation to determine your desired brow shape, density of hair strokes and color. You will spend considerable time on the shape, once your shape has been mapped, drawn and agreed upon by you and your service provider, the Microblading will begin. This appointment may take 2-2.5 hours. You will be given after care instructions on how to help your new full brows heal over the next week, and after 30 days you will come back for your perfecting appointment.
During the second, “perfecting” session, your service provider will add additional hair strokes if needed and can make any adjustments to your brow shape. It is best to be conservative during the initial appointment, and then add more fullness or darken the color during the second session.
As with any other cosmetic service, each client will heal differently and some people may experience fading of the ink faster than others. Most commonly, people will need a yearly touchup to keep their brows from fading.
Microblading starts at $500, a consultation will be necessary to determine exact cost and time frame for service appointment. Please call 919-651-9425 to schedule your consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions About Microblading
Is Microblading painful?
Each person has a varied tolerance for pain. Most people agree that the process of Microblading is more uncomfortable than painful. We do however, use topical numbing cream on each client in order to make the session as pleasurable as possible.
What will my eyebrows look like after the service?
Your brows will appear darker and more bold due to natural scabbing and healing for the first 10 days. This is common for all permanent cosmetic procedures.
How long does it last and will I need a touch up?
The pigments used in Microblading will fade over time, as a general rule it should last 1-2 years. People with more oily skin types or those taking certain medications will see fading more quickly. A touch-up is suggested yearly.
What if I have had permanent makeup on my brows previously (brow tattoo)?
Existing permanent makeup should be 80-90% faded prior to Microblading. The pigment from the previous tattoo makes implanting new pigment difficult and often times the results will not last, fading happens very quickly.
Can anyone get Microblading?
Clients with certain medical conditions are not candidates for this service. If any of the below conditions pertain to you, you should not have this service.
- Pregnant or nursing mothers
- Clients with Diabetes
- Chemotherapy patients, consult your doctor
- Viral infections
- Major heart conditions, or pacemaker
- Organ transplant patients
- Skin irritations or Psoriasis near treatment area (rashes, sunburn, acne etc.)
- Cold or Flu
- Botox in the past two weeks
- Accutane in the last year
- Predisposition to Keloid scarring
Are there any medications I should stop taking before Microblading?
Please do not take any Advil, Tylenol or pain medications prior to your service, these medications cause your blood to thin and can make implanting pigment into the skin difficult. Stop taking fish oil, one month prior to your appointment, and discontinue use of Retin-A and any anti-aging products prescribed by a Dermatologist two weeks in advance.
