Wax On, Pull It Off at Our Cary NC Body & Facial Waxing Salon

Getting ready for summer? Have you considered waxing your body for the perfect bikini look? The Green Room, a Cary NC waxing salon, offers full body waxing, upper lip, facial waxing, Brazilian wax and eyebrow waxing. This is why you should be visiting the salon.

Waxing removes unwanted hair temporarily. It is better than shaving as hair regrowth takes a longer time. Facial waxing enhances the appearance and allows easy application of makeup. Eyebrow waxing pops out your eyes for a brighter look. A full body wax leaves your entire skin flawless.

The Process of Waxing

  1. Prepare the wax. It has to be passed through the heat before you start waxing. The wax warmer is preferred since it keeps the wax in suitable temperature while you work and it is less messy.
  2. Pre-clean. A cleanser with isopropyl alcohol is suitable as it evaporates away and there is no need to rinse. It also helps the wax to grip well on the hair strands. For facial waxing, ensure you’re careful with the areas around the eyes.
  3. Test the wax. While using a wax warmer, the temperature is consistent, but it’s good to check if the wax is too hot on the skin.
  4. At this point, work on small sections at a time. Smear the wax on the skin in the direction of hair growth. Leave the wax until it’s a bit hard. Eyebrow waxing is sensitive; apply wax carefully to prevent contact with the eyes.
  5. Rip off. Pull the dry wax off your skin in the opposite direction of hair growth. While removing the wax, hold the skin beneath the wax to reduce the pain.
  6. Repeat the sections. Apply wax to the other sections you want your hair removed. Leave to dry and pull off.
  7. Clean up. After waxing all your sections, there will wax residues, especially where your skin folds. Use a wax remover and soft cotton cloth to do away with the wax.

Important Factors to Consider Before Waxing

  • Carry out a health check to determine if waxing does not have an effect on your health.
  • Talk to your provider and ask questions. You may need to do a patch test.
  • After waxing, avoid any skin treatment regimens like steam baths or saunas.

Waxing is practically one of the best ways to deal with excessive hair growth on the skin. Usually, frequent waxing reduces the rate at which your hair regrows. Visit our Cary waxing salon for the best waxing experience.

How to Get Ready for a Salon Waxing Appointment

Salon waxing is a fantastic way to cut back on shaving, get smooth skin and indulge a little. It’s nice to let someone else do all the work, but there are some things visitors should do before the day of their waxing appointment. Making sure to follow these tips will help ensure that the appointment goes smoothly.

1. Grow Out the Hair

In order for wax to grab hair and pull it out by its roots, there has to be some visible hair. The general rule is to let the hair grow for two to three weeks. An eighth to a quarter of an inch of hair is perfect for the wax to grab. Any longer and there is a risk of the waxing being more painful than necessary.

2. Avoid Creams With Retin-A

While retin-A is wonderful for acne and other skin conditions, it makes the skin more prone to damage. Do not use any creams containing retin-A for about two weeks before a body waxing appointment to avoid injury.

3. Exfoliate

Whether the appointment is for facial waxing, Brazilian waxing or everything in-between, gently exfoliate the skin the day before an appointment. Gentle is the operative word; heavily exfoliated skin is sensitive.

4. Moisturize

Use moisturizer on the areas to be waxed all the way up to the day before a waxing appointment. This helps the skin pull away from the wax easily. However, overdoing it or waxing on the day of the appointment can make it harder for the wax to adhere to the hair.

5. Look for Skin Problems

Just before a waxing appointment, check the skin for signs of breakage or sensitivity. It is not safe to wax skin that is broken or irritated. Not only can it lead to further damage, it can also promote infections. Wait until the skin heals to wax.

6. Cleanliness

Make sure to keep the bikini area very clean before and after waxing. This is true for facial waxing too, but especially true for Brazilian waxing, which affects a moist area that is susceptible to chafing. Moist, damaged skin is much more prone to bacterial growth.

When Is the Worse Time to Get Facial or Body Waxing Done

When not to Wax

There are many questions and fears about facial and body waxing. Many people are afraid they will be “burned” by the wax, or that their skin is too sensitive to be waxed. Bad experiences are unfortunately all too common. Here at The Green Room we make sure to avoid all such occurrences. Here are a few things to know before you head to your local brow bar.

  1. What medications are you currently using from a Dermatologist? This is important because medications such a Retin-A, Retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide, and Alpha Hydroxy Acids thin the skin and can cause irritation when waxing.
  2. Have you had any medical grade services from a Dermatologist or MedSpa in the past month? Chemical peels, Phenol peels, and Microdermabrasion are all procedures that cause the superficial layer of the skin to be effected, making skin more prone to irritation.
  3. Have you been sunburned or is your skin uncharacteristically dry? Dry skin is more prone to “lifting” when wax is applied.

Here at The Green Room we ask each waxing client to read and sign a release form asking the above questions each and every time they visit our Cary, NC salon. All too often I hear clients say they were “burned” by wax being too hot, or that they have never been asked what products they use on their skin before a wax service. They have more than likely experienced “lifting” or a negative reaction to waxing in the past due to products or services they currently use, or to changes in their skin’s moisture level, caused by weather, sun exposure, or internal dehydration. Being “burned” by wax is next to impossible, and we make sure to educate all of our waxing clients prior to their service.

What to do if you are currently using a Dermatologist grade product, its simple, we will tweeze your brow rather than wax. Tweezing is just as effective and will give the same clean, defined result as a brow wax. Just allot a little more time with tweezing.

Know before you go! Anf, if you have ever questions, give us a call today or stop in!

Cary Body Waxing Salon, The Green Room, Shares 9 Brazilian Wax Tips

Brazilian wax services can be a little bit intimidating to those who’ve never given this fabulous service a try before. The truth is that the fear and anticipation leading up to a wax is oftentimes scarier than the service itself. To help you have the best Brazilian wax experience possible, here are nine Brazilian wax tips from our Cary body waxing salon.

1. Don’t Panic or Stress

The more your freak out and stress, the worse the experience is going to be. While getting a Brazilian at a body waxing bar does entail some pain, it’s usually not as bad as people think it’s going to be.

2. Don’t Shave or Apply Any Products

Don’t shave for at least a week before your appointment, as hair needs to be at least a quarter of an inch long. Avoid applying any products to the area before your appointment as well.

3. Let Your Waxer Know If You’re A Newbie

Any body waxing bar professional wants to know if it’s your first time. They’ll go a little slower and walk you through the process.

4. Don’t Be Self-Conscious

The professionals who administer Brazilian wax services have seen it all. Don’t be self-conscious about what you look like.

5. Take An Ibuprofen

While nothing will make the process completely painless, an Ibuprofen can help to reduce the pain a bit and prevent redness.

6. Relax and Breathe

The more tense you are, the more unpleasant the experience will be. Instead, just relax and remember to breathe.

7. Let Your Waxer Know If You Don’t Want To Be Fully Bare

If the idea of going fully bare freaks you out, tell your waxer at the beginning of your appointment. She or he will be happy to leave a small patch of hair, frequently known as a “landing strip.”

8. Don’t Be Freaked Out By The Tweezers

If your waxer pulls out some metal tools, don’t be freaked out! They’re just doing away with some ingrown hairs or bumps, which absolutely everyone has down there. The finished, smooth result will be worth it.

9. Enjoy The Results!

Shaving downstairs is a real hassle. A Brazilian gives you a gorgeously smooth finish for up to a full month. You’ll feel cleaner, smoother and more fabulous.

If you’re ready to finally try a Brazilian for yourself, call our Cary body waxing salon today to schedule an appointment.

Ace your first Brazilian!!

Brazilian Blog title

It’s the service that waxing newbies are most afraid to book, BUT here’s the thing, it is actually the most popular body waxing service! Which means it can’t be that bad!

With a few insider tips you can make your first Brazilian wax a breeze! We asked our resident waxing queen, Caitlyn Monsees, to give you a list of her top 5 tips and tricks. She says:

Caitlyn Blog PostShe says:

  1. Buff before you bare: Exfoliating before every wax is a must but people always forget that exfoliating and moisturizing go hand in hand; even down there. Exfoliating and moisturizing before and in between every wax will help to prevent ingrown hairs and make for a cleaner wax. (Ask us about our pineapple enzyme exfoliant).
  2. Hide your razors: Do not shave for at least 2 weeks in preparation for your wax. A good rule of thumb is the length of a grain of rice, or a quarter of an inch. Anything longer than an inch will need to be trimmed. Trimming during your appointment adds extra time, which results in a charge for this service. Save your bucks by just trimming at home before your appointment.
  3. Avoid feeling the burn: No working out for 24 hours after your Brazilian wax. Your pores will be open and very susceptible to bacteria. The rise in your body temperature combined with sweat makes for the perfect home for bacteria. Use this as an excuse to skip the gym; and maybe order pizza.
  4. Skip the stimulants: Caffeine and alcohol can make your skin particularly sensitive. Try to go 24 hours before your wax without these vices. If you can’t start your day without your coffee, book your wax first thing in the morning and reward yourself after.
  5. The mythical perfect wax: Your Brazilian will not be perfect after your first wax. Shaving makes your hair blunt and dense. Dense hairs can break off instead of being removed by the root during a wax. New growth is fine and has a smaller root, which is perfect for waxing. Hair also comes and goes in cycles just like the hair on your head. Repeated waxes received every four weeks will help to insure the alignment of these growth cycles for less growth in between.

There you have it ladies! Take a moment and a deep breath and book your first Brazilian. We know you want to…

See you soon!
